The cell wall is tough, flexible and sometimes rigid. They surround only some types of cells. The cell wall is there to give the cell strength and structure, and to filter things that pass in and out of the cell. The cell wall works with all organelles of the cell they are in by giving them structure and protection.

They are found in plants, fungi, bacteria, algae, and archaea cells. They are found on the outside if the cell membrane of these cells.
