The major function of the peroxides is to break down long chains of fatty acids! The process they use is beta-oxidation! Eventually the fatty acids are broken down to carbon dioxide and water. Peroxisomes are protein enzymes that are usually created by lysosomes in the cell. Peroxisomes do not contain DNA or ribosomes!

Peroxisomes do there functions in cytoplasm of Eukaryotic cells! They can be found in plant cells.
